Bio-Imaging Core

Bioimaging technology is crucial in life sciences, interdisciplinary research, and medical studies, offering the most intuitive and effective way to study biological structures and functions. As research deepens, the demand for imaging across scales—from single molecules to entire organisms. No single imaging technique can meet these cross-scale requirements. To address the diverse needs of SZBL and the rapidly developing Greater Bay Area, we must establish multi-modality, cross-scale imaging technology.

The Bio-Imaging Core integrates optical, electronic, and ultrasound imaging modalities, spanning different time and space scales. By integrating hardware with image data processing software, it provides a panoramic view of cellular life activities. The cross-scale imaging is essential for basic and biomedical research, strongly supports studies on subcellular structures and functions, as well as research into the molecular mechanisms of diseases like cancer and cardiovascular disorders.

The core is equipped with a variety of optical imaging systems and electron microscope equipment, including:

- Super-resolution Microscopy

- Laser Confocal Fluorescence Microscopy

- Live-Cell Imaging Systems

- High-Content Live-Cell Analysis Systems

- Sample Preparation core for Bioimaging

- Cell Mechanics Systems

- Electron Microscopy Systems

Additionally, it is equipped with two-photon microscope, light sheet microscope, and laser microdissection system according to actual research needs. It also has professional image analysis workstations (Imaris, Halo) for data processing and image analysis.
